Ma'aseh Bruria, conceived by Gabriella Lev, and created together with Aliza Elion Israeli (text) Ruth Wieder Magan (voice) and Joyce Miller (direction) is a fascinating composite of ancient Talmudic and Midrashic texts. The piece explores the controversial "act" of Bruria, a brilliant Talmudic scholar. She was, a teacher and arbiter of the Law. She was outrageous, defiant, and scoffed at the sages. She was daughter of and wife to two of the greatest Talmudic scholars. She ridiculed the wise men who said "women are fickle -minded". Her husband set out to prove otherwise. He charged one of his disciples to seduce her; she acceded, and then took her own life.

Exquisite in its simplicity, Ma'aseh Bruria is one of TCJ's most moving and intimate works.
